Re: Why about yarn

I was wondering that too, LOL. I always sell mine in at least 4 oz plus 2 oz trim, because I know it drives me nuts to see a 3.5 oz skein that I like, but can't do anything with (although, technically I could dye my own trim, I'm lazy).

LOL - see and I'm running into the other problem with some being larger skiens than I need for newborn and smalls. I'll have leftovers from lots and only pray they look well together as scrappys or else I don't know what to do with it all.

Its something I struggle with to be honest. I worry that big skeins are too much while little skeins are too small. I try to offer a variety, plus I am always open to customs and can do 4, 6 or 8 oz skeins plus trim .

The purewool does come in 3.5 oz skiens which is why you will see those. For me everything else comes on a cone so I can break it up into various size skeins.

Re: Why about yarn

I was just skeining up some yarn to dye tomorrow and this thread made me paranoid . 4 oz works for shorties for many sizes but not for large +, some people are still buying for longies, some aren't buying for either! Agh! its hard to know what to do.

For the record if what I offer isn't enough, I will dye more ! I should put that on the top of my site .

I just did a pair of shorties with a large hip on 3.5 oz and had a wee bit left over after the i-cord. I only used trim for the waistband and pocket. I think 3.5-4 oz is perfect for jsut about any size shorties! I can get 2 pairs of shorties for my 14 month old twins out of 7oz plus trim.

Re: Why about yarn

I find it REALLY annoying. We don't wear shorties, so most of the yarn for sale is useless right now for us anyway and in addition I am barely making it with 8 oz of bulky right now for longies.

I ALWAYS need more if the yarn is bulky. 8 oz of a worsted to aran will go much further than a true bulky. I knitted Joel's b-day longies with bulky and I was SWEATING it thinking I wouldn't have enough. I just BARELY did.

I am finishing a cuff right now. I had ONE row left and an inch of colorway. I ended up snipping some ends for scraps and incorporating them into the last row with some trim on the backside. I am sweating now finishing the cuff.
