Re: For the mamas who switched their babies to whole milk

I've been giving my 16 month old whole milk off and on since he was 12 months. He doesn't really like it, much prefers to nurse. Though I have found he will drink more when I blend up some frozen strawberries and make strawberry milk for him.

We start our kids around a year, a little earlier with Selah, but she started milk at 11 months I think.

We also switched to raw milk when they were about 13 months or so. Claire is still breastfed, so she really only gets milk in her sippy in the morning at daycare and with dinner. Since we switched Gavin to raw milk, his eczema is nonexistant, and Claire actually cannot tolerate pasteurized milk (she breaks out in a full body eczema rash & doesn't sleep well), but is fine on raw milk.

DD switched herself at a year. She saw me drinking a cup a milk, grunted that she wanted some, took a sip and didn't look back. Way to easy, but hey!

dd & I have trouble with lactose (and she is nursing) so I am not going to even offer her dairy products until she is at least 2, but if you do feel the need to try it I believe the AAP suggests 12 months as a minimum age to introduce it.
