I'm amazed it works!!

Hi,

my ds is 7 months, I put her on the potty, didn't expect anything,
took her off and she did her bm and p. This was a week ago!
She signals by getting really fuzzy, she seems to know now that she
rather poo in the potty and really looks at me to get my attention.
When I'm not at home, she seems to get upset that I can't put her
on the potty. And when she is done, she cries to get of.

She is still only bf mostly, but I hope it will continue as she starts eating more.

She still wets and soils her diaper, but she goes on the potty too.

What is the next step, diapers or pullups, I don't want her to loose it.

My 2 year old used to go to the potty, but now he only uses his diaper.
Any help?

Judy

Hmm - best bet just keep encouraging her. Maybe try some diaper free time, maybe try some underwear for a couple hours - my dd hates when her underwear get wet and I have to change her - so now she is pretty insistant on using the potty, but it does depend on the child. Your daughter may set her own pace, and the big thing is just to keep it happy and always praise her when she goes on the potty - if she has a miss simply tell her it's alright, maybe ask "did you try to tell me you needed to potty and I missed it? I'm sorry if I did." She may not be able to speak to you, but by openly communicating with her about her going she may be more open to using the potty more often. HTH!

Thanks,

today she didn't want to go to much. I think I didn't read her clues to well.
But I will continue and praise and encourage her.

Re: I'm amazed it works!!

I was totally amazed it worked too! I'd just make sure to keep things pretty casual. It's ok if you go, it's ok if you don't. I've heard that ECing evening part of the time ends up working.

No suggestions for the 2 yo. Maybe when the little one starts to get the hang of the potty the older one will want to follow.
