Tuna Recipes

I am on Wic and breastfeeding and seriously have 50 cans of tuna. I dont really like tuna and my DH hates it. I can eat it when it is in something that tastes like something other than tuna.

Please please please give me some ideas on what to make with it. I am not a fan of tuna salad. I was thinking some sort of casserole, side dish, or maybe even some sort of patty.

I am clueless!

Re: Tuna Recipes

I know you said you don't like tuna salad, but you HAVE to try this!

Tuna Melt-

Mix 1 can of tuna with about a tablespoon of mayo.
Finely chop a slice of onion (not too much onion!)
Add some black pepper

Now, take some sort of bread, whether it be sandwich bread or sub rolls. Put chedder cheese on both slices and stick them in the oven until the cheese is melted. Put the tuna mixture on one slice of bread, top with the other slice and enjoy a HEAVENLY tuna melt!

Re: Tuna Recipes

My mom used to make tuna cassarole when I was little. I remember liking it and I don't remember it tasting like tuna fish. A quick search pulls up a ton of recipes. Maybe that's worth a shot?

Re: Tuna Recipes

One our favorite dinners is tuna patties. I always just kind of throw it together so bear with me while I try to come up with the recipe....
Okay so 2 cans of tuna
2 eggs
1/2 stack of finely crushed up crackers
and maybe 1/2 a can of mixed veggies( I give them a good rough chop before dumping them in)
and 1/2 of a finely chopped onion
season with a little garlic salt & pepper then pan fry. Very tasty the kids call them crabby patties now b/c they like spongebob

Thanks for the idea. I tried it with some tweaks. I mixed the tuna with half light mayo and half ranch dressing. I skippe the onions and added capers. I seasoned with black pepper and made an open-faced melt with american cheese. It was very good.

I will have to try more of your suggestions. Thanks everyone.
