How old was your child when they outgrew naps?

My 2.5 yr old has been having a REALLY hard time going down for naps the past week and has also had a hard time gooing to bed on time. Do you think he is done w/ daytime naps?! He has been really cranky though. IDK???

both of my older kids had mandatory naps until about 4ish. I didn't care if they slept, they had to lay down and have 2 hours of "quiet time"

22 month Ds still takes a nap for about 2-3 hours a day and we plan on following the above plan for when he outgrows the actual sleeping part of the naptime. I think it's so important for them to have down time and rest!

Oh now isn't that the nicest thing ever??? My DS will not sleep if we're in the same room, unless he's sick. I've tried, I miss napping with my monster

Neither of my kids napped. From birth, they would snooze for about 5 minutes after eating and then would wake as soon as I had to put them down. It was obnoxious and exhausting.

Re: How old was your child when they outgrew naps?

My oldest was pretty much done with naps around 2 1/2. She actually went through a few month stretch where she didn't really nap at all. And then toward the end of my pregnancy with her brother she would nap with me. My son took a nap pretty much every day until he was 5, I think. Now he'll take one probably about once or twice a week. He's 6. My youngest just turned 2 and she still takes a nap everyday, but they have gotten shorter and a little later. The older two will sometimes have a rest time, though. Just depends on what's going on and how crabby they are.

Ian is 3, and he hasn't napped every day for a few months. He will still take a nap if he needs it, but I don't make him.
