not a chance.

ETA: Between the germs and chemicals of a public pool I wouldn't even consider it. I would feel totally differently about a privately owned pool

Have a towel CLOSE by the pool -- be ready to wrap the baby up instantly.

I took my 8 week old swimming. I just popped him in the water sling so he stayed close to me and we went. It was an apartment pool, it was a really warm spell in October (Oklahoma Indian summer), and he was fine.

I would go in the water first to see how harsh teh chemicals are and the temp. Even then I would only do it with a solarviel carrier and put the baby in it.

Re: Would you take an 8 week old swimming?

I voted maybe. Most indoor pools are still cold even though they say heated. I know here in TX it's still too cold to even think about outdoor swimming. Before I took my new baby in the pool I would test the water to see how harsh the chemicals were. You can buy at a store cheap. My boys do not have sensitive skin, but one place we lived had a pool and the chemicals were so harsh that they both broke out i their genital area. If the chemicals aren't super strong and the water isn't too cold I would say go for it. My babies at 3mo hate a bath and I give them a shower and they are much happer.

I would as long as the water was warm. I would also bathe the baby right after. I am sensitive to pool chemicals (I get all itchy) so I wash well after swimming no matter what.

I voted maybe. It depends on the temp and how bad the chemicals are.

IA! Public pools just have stronger chemicals and they don't ever seem to have the levels right. My eyes burn and we've had some bathing suits to fade from hotel pools (nice ones).

Nope. I'd be too busy thinking about the germs, chemicals, things people have done in the hotel pool, etc... I'd rather make a bath at home and sit in the bath with the baby.
