My baby's HUNGRY!

I've been EBFing my DS2 for almost 4 months solid now, he's never tasted formula! Whoo-hooo!

But we're having a bit of a supply issue. For the last few days he's been amazingly hungry and right now I'm sucked dry. I think he's going through a serious growth spurt and MIGHT be ready to start solids. But before I introduce something new, I really would like to get my supply to where he's not so very hungry. So, here's my question, in addition to constantly nursing, is there anything I can do to help my boobs catch up?

Re: My baby's HUNGRY!

I heard of this recipe to increase production on an other site.
I had the same issues with my girls, and look forward to trying this with the new baby.

Re: My baby's HUNGRY!

try not to stress out, my dd did the exact same thing at the exact same time! she just nursed constantly and fussed like she was still hungry and then within a couple days my milk flooded in i think it's how they increase the supply when they're going through a growth spurt and needing more. i'd wait and see what happens before hurrying to solids

You could try some fenugreek.. they sell it at GNC and I always took 3-4 capsules 3-4x/day.. worked like a charm.

Re: My baby's HUNGRY!

I agree with the mamas above....stress doesn't help. I went through that at 4 months as well....just have patience it will work out. Use compression when DS is eating. I also drank a lot of mothers tea, water and had oatmeal every day.

Lots of water, lots of rest, mother's milk tea, oatmeal, I've even heard beer....

But most of all, just nurse and relax

Re: My baby's HUNGRY!

Great advice already mama. Just wanted to add that Brewer's Yeast works well and is cheap. I got a bottle of 500 from Vitamin World for $10. You take 2 three times a day. They also sell it at Walmart for 100 tablets for $3.

I would hold off on solids personally. The AAP now recommends waiting until 6 months. Your supply will definitely keep up with baby as long as you are doing it on demand!

Re: My baby's HUNGRY!

Definitely keep nursing, and the PP have covered everything else!
