waffle recipe?

I have a waffle iron and I LOVE waffles. my husband doesnt so I dont have them much. but now that the baby is starting to demand breakfast I would like to make some for us.

does anyone have a dairy free recipe for waffles? useing soymilk is fine. I just have never made them from scratch, I useually use a predone batter and just throw it in the iron. :shrug:

Here is a great receipe from a friend. My DD broke my waffle iron so I add more milk and make pancakes out of it.
ETA: the first time I made them I didn't have the cornmeal so just added extra flour. I am trying to add more healthy stuff in our diet, this is definitely a family favorite especially with real maple syrup!! It is very filling.

Multi-grain Waffles

1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. cornmeal
1 T. cinnamon
1 egg
1 T. baking powder
3 T. sugar
4 T. oil
Milk - add until batter consistency

Bake

And by the way, I'm really into waffles right now too.
I don't cook much, but I bought organic wheat free waffles that you pop in the toaster. And I bought organic maple syrup. Tomorrow morning the babies and I are having them. I've been dicing up apples and putting those over them. I'm starving at my computer longing for breakfast time to roll around.
