Yarn Newbie

So I'm on the path to purchase my first longies, and I'm pretty sure I'll have to do one of the "send you own yarn" things, because the longies I want are a little unusual. See, I would like white or unbleached fuzzy yarn. Not the kind of yarn the pills very easy, but I guess a little hairy is what I'm going for. Would that even work? Is there a reason I haven't seen white longies? I know they could stain but wouldn't I just be able to dye them later if I wanted too? Also, I found this 100% cashmere yarn that just looked gorgeous, but I don't really know what I'm looking for as far as how much I would need or if the yarn needs to have special qualities to be used for longies? Like this yarn would it work?

I hope I'm making some sense.

Re: Yarn Newbie

IMO....cashmere would indeed be lovely and would work, but unless you are getting it for a newborn, I don't think in the end you would be happy w/it. It will pill easily if you put it on busy LO.

And yes you could dye them later if you wanted

As to what to suggest for you, I don't really know. I think it's going to depend on what texture you want and what age child you want it for. For example, Peace Fleece is a tough yarn. And, IMO, it's a bit on the hairy side. But, I personally wouldn't use it on a newborn. However, I would def use it on my busy-bee toddler.

ETA: if you post this same question in Extra Fluffy, the woolie mamas might have some good suggestions for you
