shoe help for Xtra-wide feet

My son wears Stride rite Extra double wide. I am wondering if any of you have found other shoes that come this wide. I have tried a few other brands, but their wide is just not wide enough. Is it just Stride Rite or nothing for us?? Thanks mamas!

My DS wears mostly soft soled shoes and I just have to custom order them sometimes. If he's under 3yo, then I'd just stick w/ soft soles. Otherwise, I know Merrell's are wider than normal and they are also available for even wider feet.

My nephew has really wide feet. My sister said he could only wear XW stride rite, crocs(beach not cayman) and Wee Squeak shoes. They run really wide, have a very flexible sole like tredz, pedipeds, etc.. You can take the squeaker out and they are great shoes.

my youngest needs xw striderite as well but does fit into some target genuine kids tennis shoes, and also i think it is oshgosh that he might have a pair of as well - new balance wide works also

for us i find really more shoes just have to be tried on and a number of them have ended up working - more dont work but all the same there are cheaper options if thats important for you

IME only Stride Rite has (hard soled) shoes wide enough. If you don't want to pay the Stride Rite prices you can have him sized in store and then buy off Ebay. I got brand new Stride Rites for DS for under $20

I did soft soles while he was new, but we're in Iowa, soft soled shoes don't cut it except for about 2 months out of the year....and come July/August the pavement is too hot

I usually buy either Stride Rite XW or New Balance XW. I have often found NB to be well priced online at Joes New Balance dot com - and they have free shipping specials pretty often too, especially around US holidays. For more readily available shoes, I find that Gap shoes are pretty wide too.
