suede and microfleece shouldn't fray. The jagged cut is to help PREVENT the fraying.

Re: GAD question... this seems odd...?

All of her dipes are like that now. I have some of both and they are fine w/o the serging of the opening. There are a couple more pricey diapers on the market that use the same technique. I have old and new GADs and it really doesn't affect the performance at all. In fact, I've been sewing my own and not serging the opening and they've been working fine too!

Re: GAD question... this seems odd...?

I'd rather have it look finished though. I can make my own pockets that look like that KWIM? All serged edges will fray eventually and I think most people who buy serged diapers know that, but when you pay $16 for a diaper, plush $8 for embroider, plush shipping, I think most people are expecting it to look professsional, but maybe that's just me...

Re: GAD question... this seems odd...?

i guess im an oddball. it doesn't bother me. Id rather her spend more time making other pockets and w/ her family then serging a part of the diaper that no one but me will see. I have a fleece diaper that is about 6 months old from someone else done the same way and the opening looks like the day i bought it

Re: GAD question... this seems odd...?

I didn't know that about PP! Bummer! I'm going to reconsider ordering from them.

I had another pocket with a fleece inner and an unfinished opening like that. Sometimes when I put an insert in, the ends of the opening tore a teeny bit and the opening kept getting wider and wider. I don't have huge hands or anything.

Personally, I think it's cutting corners to leave the opening unfinished like that.

Re: GAD question... this seems odd...?

I have 4 with serging and I just bought another 6 that are not serged. At first, I was alarmed. But having overstuffed them with a prefold and a trifold soaker, I really do much prefer no serging. The opening is restrictive when overstuffing and I can stuff much easier without the serging.
