Line Dried CPFs are Stiff

I line dried some dipes today and they are so stiff. I can't put them on our baby like this. What makes them so hard? I ran them through the rinse cycle twice and always add baking soda to the wash.

We're in AZ so they dry super fast, about an hour. Could that cause it?

I don't line dry PFs. You can put them out for a little bit but throw them in the dryer when they are still wet to soften them up. PFs get fluffier as you dry them so I don't line dry them.

Now that they are dry just fluff them in the dryer to soften them up.

Re: Line Dried CPFs are Stiff

I line dry to save $... and I know it sounds NUTSO but this really really works - toss them in the dryer for a few minutes BEFORE you line dry them... and they will be softer. I swear. I was tossing them in after but it was a waste b/c I had to have them in the dryer forever & they still weren't that soft. When I started doing it before, they came out fine. Also, it may help (since they dry so fast is AZ) to hang them up double (like two on the same clothespins) so that they dry slower.

GL OBTW it's not your washing that makes them stiff.

Pop them in the dryer for 15 or so minutes. It really helps.

It's in the 100's here and it does seem that the faster they dry the crunchier they are. I'll have to have a scientific experiment soon. :-)

I just line dried all my diaper laundry and I think that everything but my pockets could have stood up on its own! lol I just brought them in and threw them in the dryer with a damp bathroom hand towel. They turned out okay.
