So I have been wanting a serger and I met a woman who has 2 to sell. I'm testing out the machines tonight and need quick help! One is a white speedylock 1600 that she would sell for $100 or $140 with tote and thread. The other one is a Toyota serger 3 thread for $70. I don't much about either one and I'm mobile right now and can't really review them. Any advice would be helpful! Would you pay these prices? Are they good machines? 3 or 4 thread machine?

I'm not familiar with either. Are they older machines? Check out patternreview.com for machine reviews. They have thousands of reviews. You have to get an account to read the reviews, but it is otherwise hassle free.
I would get a four thread over a three thread. Although I mostly use it in three thread, the option is nice to have secure seams. |

Okay so I'm thinking the white is probably best, it has a lot of features that I would find useful. It's about $250 new so I guess the price is pretty accurate.
