Transitioning to table food...

Ok, I'm just having trouble with this concept. At what point do you stop waiting 4 days after introducing something new? I mean, if they're eating table food, it's not like they're going to be eating the same thing for 4 days every time. So when does it become okay to just start giving them whatever? I gave DS some quartered & peeled grapes to "play with" today while I was making him some brocolli (still doing it in the blender), and he ate a few of them and one piece got stuck to the roof of his mouth so he got upset. lol I'm just not sure how this whole table food thing is supposed to work... TIA.

When Ian and Sophie started to eat table foods I just stopped with the 4 day wait. Now that said I am very laidback with foods we feed,we've had zero history of food allergies so I never thought about it much

I'd say once you're on table foods, it's probably not as big of a deal unless it's a high allergen.

Ashley's starting table foods-- more like toast, overcooked pasta and veggies, pieces of banana, baked sweet potato chunks.... Crackers and cereal. So in some way or another they're things she's already had before, KWIM?

She's a little shark when it comes to food and will try to eat anything-- she can do baked apples but they have to be really soft. And we're having to watch what hebrother's snacking on since he's taken to "sharing" with her which is how I realized she was ready to try more foods-- he gave her a grahm cracker which she went to town on.

Do you have any family history of allergies?

I'm way lax on this and just give him whatever we're having, but we have no allergies whatsoever, neither DH, me or DS1.

We do stay away from the 'bigger' no-nos; egg whites, honey, etc.

ETA: My DS2 is 8.5 months-ish

Re: Transitioning to table food...

When DD started having table food (the food not blended or smushed) it was already things she had tried. Green beans, sweet peas, sweet potatoes, apricots and, carrots. I would at least try the same thing for 3 days in a row at your DC's age - just bc their tummies are very sensitive. DD didn't really start eating solids until she was about 8 months, and went to feeding herself by 9 1/2 months - so we had less time for her to get board w/foods than you guys.
