Suggestions for too-sweet baked beans??

Recently I tried a new recipe for baked beans, and we were NOT pleased with the results. They were too sweet, and DH didn't like how firm the beans remained. The basic ingredients were: pinto beans, molasses, onions, crushed pineapple, honey, dried ginger, & dried mustard. I cook a lot & was quite surprised by how badly this recipe turned out!!!

I can't think of much to do with these beans, but I refuse to throw out an entire pot of perfectly good food. I chopped some up in my little food chopper & ended up with a chutney-type mixture. But then I couldn't figure out what to do with a sweet bean chutney!

Any suggestions for these beans??????? I know how to change the taste of the liquid around them, but DH still wouldn't eat them due to the texture of the beans themselves... So toss some ideas at me! Be creative!...

taco casserole? add some worchesthire sauce to make it more "meaty" and to take some of the sweetness out of it. Or mix it in with some refried beans.

Otherwise... it actually sounds pretty good!

Oh...bean soup. toss it in with more beans and just keep adding water and a chicken or beef broth.

What about adding a little bit of vinegar to them?

Yeah, I thought of those ideas.... my *biggest* problem is the actual texture of the beans... (maybe I should have worded the title to the post slightly differently? ) I guess if all else fails, I can make a MASSIVE portion of soup & mix in the beans I already have....
