warm tea ok??

my dd (7months old) still has a pretty bad cough, and I know when my oldest dd had a bad cold her PED said to give her warm tea to drink, but I can't remember how old she was when he said that? So does anyone know if it would be ok to give this dd tea to help with her throat?

I give my ds warm water with honey but, he's two. I would just either give her warm water or get tea with no caffine in it.

i think its fine, as long as you are talking about something like herbal tea and not caffeinated black tea (i.e. lipton). i gave my boys chamomile tea and 'tummy mint' (celestial seasons), both of which they thought was ok, but didn't love. i hope she feels better soon.

you know, warm water would probably have the same effect on her throat, if you are not sure about the tea or she doesn't like it.

Ya I mean herbal tea, not caffinated. just something to help her throat feel better! I caffine free sitting here some where, but I may just head to the store and get some different stuff.

I've heard of pp giving babies chamomile tea but I'm not sure at what age. Hmm, can you call your Ped office- do they have a nurse line? I'm sure there are some herbal teas that aren't safe for infants.

Chamomile is ok for sure. We have a holistic ped and use homeopathic remedies--her first recommendation for giving tinctures (concentrated herbal treatments) is to put it in some warm chamomile tea and give w/ a dropper. She actually suggests doing it right from birth (when needed anyway) so they're used to such remedies.

But DO NOT give your dc honey before 1 year of age.....
This can cause botchulism (sp?)

My peds have all told me age 2 before any honey because of the open spores that is in it. I guess in some cases it has been fatal. But tea with out honey I think would be ok.
