Question Do you thiink 15 months is too young

to start encouraging the potty?

A little history, dd#1 started using the potty at exactly age 2, so maybe I was spoiled.

Anyway, my little one, who is 15 months on the 16th, has been going into the bathroom, lifting the lid, and then backing herself into the tiolet. She's mimicking us, no doubt, but I figured I would pull out the potty chair and start letting her see what the big deal is. I would never push her, especially at such a young age, but I would love to encourage it, kwim? EC is out of the question (at least on a full time basis - I work), but I can usually tell when she is doing her big daily doo doo. LOL

What do you think?

Re: Do you thiink 15 months is too young

My dd have been going on the potty about two times a day since she was about 16 months old. When she turns two next month we will do potty all day. I wouldnt say its too soon. My dd reads a book, and shes not on for more than 5 min before she goes. I have her go right before nap and right after.

I don't see anything wrong with letting her sit on it a few times a day, especially if she is showing interest.

We just got Dakotah a little potty. She'll be 15 months on the 19th, I let her play with it and explore it for awhile, then I put it in the bathroom and when I got potty, I take her with me and sit her down on it saying this is where we go potty. Dakotah's been squatting everytime she pees or poopoo's so I know when she's going potty, in another few weeks I'll probably start taking her when I see the signs. I don't want to rush her though.

I think it's great timing to start introducing it to her...so I don't think it will hinder anything with her pling...

Go for it! DD started to get interested in the potty at that age so we got her one of her own. She sits on it from time to time when she feels like it, and she has peed in it twice, but I don't force the issue.

not a bit.....I started with dd at 7 months, when she woke up in the morning DRY....

Now that she's 18 months, we're doing really well with it, and she's even communicating to me when she needs to go, instead of me just timing it well.

I don't think it's too soon to introduce a potty, but I do think it would be a tad bit early to really push PL'ing

If she wants to, I wouldn't discourage it by any means. I'd let her do it if she wants.

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.
