Ok...short story....we lost our house...me, hubby and kiddos (ages 5 and 3) live with my parents (this is NOT going well).....I have been looking for a job for over 9 months, DH got a job selling insurance (he lost his other job), insurance is 100% comission only and so far we have not got any income in the last 4 weeks, with NO leads in sight (to sell too)....we have $23 in our checking account, about 1/4 tank of gas.....we have had 5 yard sales in the last 9 months and sold everything we could. All furniture is sold, all electronics, all clothes, diapers (except one that I have for sale here now), ....we applied for food stamps and we only et $205 per month, I spent that already for this month, so we have food for now. I am at a total loss!!!!! We do not even have enough money to leave the house!!!!! Parents have given me all they have (my dad lost his job too)....my brother gave me money a few months ago...I feel like a bumb!!! I am a bum!!!! I need some help, ideas....something???!!!!! thanks ladies (are any of you ISO anything that I might have? The girls have some clothes left, but I have no camera to take pics now)

Oh my goodness hon!! ((HUGS)) I wish there were something I could do to help. But I hate to see you selling clothing the kids need. Is there anyone you could babysit for or houseclean for or something? Have you contacted your church? Food pantry? I'll put my thinking cap on and keep you in my prayers.

Yikes. Can anyone donate plasma to make a little money? Have you joined swagbucks to help with any time you're on the computer doing searches. There's a FAQ in my signature if you need more information.

Commission only positions are SO hard. We've been there. Luckily DH put his resume on monster.com and was able to find another job that's salary. and good luck momma.

my goodness I am SOOOOO SORRY to be reading this. Its absolutely heartbreaking. I hope things get better for you all. Is it just the area you guys live in that might be hard plagued. Maybe time for a career change for your husband if its possible. I hope things get better remember at the end of a rainstorm there is a rainbow. and it will come just be patient. and be thankful for what you do have. not sad for what you lost because in the end it will all come back to you.

What a horrible situation to be in! I hope it gets better soon. Can you and/or your husband go get some sort of part time job? Even flipping burgers at McDonalds will bring in more than what you have now. It sounds like your family would be willing to help out with babysitting. Good luck, I really hope it turns around soon for you!

Do you have a church you go to that could assist you in some way?

Angel Food takes food stamps, too. It is a great program.

Can you advertise on Craigslist, etc. that you can babysit?

Have you applied for WIC? You should qualify with the 3 yr old.

I don't know if this will help (it's not a short term solution) but my hubby and me are doing The 30 Day Challenge. It's free to do. They teach you how to make your first $1 online. We are on Day 3 right now. We're getting the lessons from 2008; the 2009 season starts June 1, I think.

I'm so sorry. It must be such a stressful situation. I agree with the above posters.....get the word out that you can babysit, clean houses, etc. Have your husband post a resume on monster.com, does your husband qualify for unemployment? I know it isn't desirable, but can you maybe pick up a paper route, work in fast food, anything for the time being?

Have you gone to social services to apply for welfare? I know it sucks to ask for cash aid but since your hubby is working but not bringing in any money you should qualify even if it's a welfare to work program. It won't be a ton of money but obviously more than you have now. I'd look into that and I agree with what the PPs said as well
