Acne cream when pregnant?
I'm breaking out like a crazy hormonal teen LOL I broke out a little bit w/ DS2 on my back which I can handle but this is ON MY FACE LOL I cannot handle that! My Dr swears I cannot use proactive, I dont have acne issues usually. What do you guys do if you break out when you are pregnant?

Re: Acne cream when pregnant?
I would say you probably 'shouldn't' use proactive, the active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide though which is not proven to have any effect on pregnancy (and some doctors consider it safe to use, even though I guess maybe it hasn't been completely tested, they have not seen any negative effects). I would say if you want to use it once a week or so it should be fine, actually Neutrogena sells an acne mask which is benzoyl peroxide too and you can just use it once a week for a few minutes on your face. That seems to help me, and I think the amount that would be going into your bloodstream and have the potential to affect the baby would be extremely minimal. It's a toss up between staying sane and happy during pregnancy or making sure you avoid all potential toxins etc. I feel like you should be as cautious as you can, but keep common sense involved! Or go to Body shop, they have a few great clay face masks that are natural and not harsh on your skin, they would probably be fine to use as well.
Anything with salicylic acid might be safe to use as well (although the jury is out on that one too). Here is some info I found: http://www.your-best-acne-treatment....pregnancy.html

Re: Acne cream when pregnant?
Have you tried plain old Witch Hazel? That usually works well for me during pregnancy. Its just an herbal, so I would think its pretty safe.
I've never understood how a topical acne treatment could comprimise the baby....I've not been able to find ANY data at all
