Question Best friend's baby delivered yesterday

Hi ladies,

One of best friends had an emergency c-section (breech baby) and welcomed a new baby girl into her family. The doctors told my friend that little ____ has Down Syndrome. They did no prenatal testing other than ultrasound, so they are in a bit of a shock, but very loving and accepting. The baby is jaundiced and with Down Syndrome and mom with c-section. Needless to say, they are having a hard time breastfeeding.

I would love to get some input for helping my friend. Thankfully, ___'s heart is perfectly fine and she seems to have no other structural issues.

Please, any prayers and advise is appreciated.

I found out Abby has Ds after she was born too. It's a rough time. It won't be long till she's amazed at how far she's come. It's an amazing journey.

Tell her to check out the online boards. I think that downsyn.com is the largest and most active.

Congrats on her new baby! I also had no idea while pg with dd that she had ds, we didn't find out until after she was born and bloodwork was done on her because a nurse heard me ask dh about dd when she was born. dd had a small hole in the center of her upper two heart chambers and it closed up on it's own, she does get ekg's done once a year though. Tell your friend all will be just fine, I wouldn't change anything about my dd, she is just the best dd, she is very smart and is amazing to watch her grow, btw she is very sneaky and is so funny, she has a wonderful sense of humor, I love my danae..
ds kids are wonderful!

A woman I know had a similar situation, and she started a blog. She is very honest in her emotions, so I think reading about someone else who went through the same thing might be helpful. The name of the blog is Finnian's Journey- it is truly inspirational, real, and I think I would find it a comfort if in the same situation.

Thanks ladies. I'm watching my friend, who is an incredible mother, accept, love and rejoice in her baby. I'm so very proud that she calls me her friend.
