Do you wake your kids up in the morning?

Dh and I have always followed the "don't wake a sleeping baby" theory with our oldest because she takes after me and is a HORRIBLE grouch if you wake her. She tends to sleep in the mornings until anywhere from 8 to 9:45. I am now starting to think that maybe I should start getting her on more of a schedule and wake her up at the same time (or close to it) during the week. We have a general schedule once she is up but our whole day really just depends on what time she gets up. She is 2 and will be starting a pre-school program in the fall two mornings a week and I am going to have to wake her up on those mornings in order to get her dressed, fed, and there on time.

We do gentle wake ups here. If The Kid isn't up by 8, I turn on our 'morning mix' - a lot of beatles and other tunes he likes starting wtih Here Comes The Sun. Cinnamon rolls or frying bacon are another good way to get him up. It's hard to sleep when something so yummy tickles your nose!

Nope, she gets up on her own. I occasionally feel that I should get her on more of a set schedule, but this works for us. She's 20 mos.

Nope, he wakes me up. He's only 10 months old though, and usually sleeps exactly 11 hours, so I know when he goes to bed when he'll be up.

There is no way I would wake up dd1. She is cranky for most of the morning if for some reason I have to. She wakes up on her own between 7 and 8:30.

Re: Do you wake your kids up in the morning?

I used to wake up Nolan every single morning for daycare and work... now that I lost my job/off for the summer I let him sleep in to whenever he needs. That comes with the luxury that he can stay up later some nights if we are out and still get his sleep.

No, my DD wakes up on her own, normally at 8am regardless of when she goes to bed. However, I do wake her up on Saturday mornings because I work early, so I pull her out of bed at 7am, and we run out the door (To Grandma's though, so she can stay asleep if she wants)
DD is just over 2yrs. We don't do planned naps either though, sometimes she naps, and sometimes she doesn't. She just sleeps when she's tired, and it works out just fine for us.

No need. My son wakes up about 5 minutes before DH's alarm like clock work. If by chance he sleeps later, though, I don't do anything to disturb him. The only times I wake him are when he's napping later than he should and I want him to go to bed at a decent hour.

I don't wake my kids up. They have always woken up by 7:30am no matter when I put them to sleep. I did start putting them to bed earlier a few months ago b/c they were crabby in the morning. If for some reason they slept past 8am, I'd probably get them up.
