QUICK What do I feed a 14m old for diarrhea? UPDATE and more ?s

I don't know if any of you read my last thread about the flu, but it definitely did end up hitting our house. Asher actually dealt with it best, but he still has bad diarrhea, and isn't peeing much. He's refused the pedialyte, but I'm freezing some and thinking maybe he'll eat it if it looks like a popsicle. However, I have no idea what to feed him for lunch, dinner, etc. He at kix w/out milk for breakfast. Does anyone have any ideas what I can feed him that will help his diarrhea?

Update in post 14...

Try Pedialyte and things like dry toast, crackers, apple sauce, etc. Gentle and mild foods. Good luck! Its never fun!

if he wont take pedialite, another brand makes jello and frozen pops, or freeze the pedialte..
give him some toast as pp said, you CAN give him 1/4 of imodium ad, i'd call the local pharmacist and ask first though, normally when the body gets diahrea, its trying to get the yuckies out of the system hope you all feel better soon

I went through this too.

Pedialyte makes popsicles.

Stick with the BRAT diet

Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Toast

Use white rice and white bread. My Ped said that yogurt is good too.

Re: QUICK What do I feed a 14m old for diarrhea?

They used to say follow the BRAT diet when struck with diarrhea.
Bananas
Rice (and anything made of rice- ie. cereal, crackers, etc.)
Apples, applesauce
Toast (and other dry wheat products like crackers, etc.)

And fluids! pedialyte or other like products, water, popsicles
What if you froze a banana and threw it in the blender with pedialyte? A smoothie!

Re: QUICK What do I feed a 14m old for diarrhea?

Our pediatrician always recommends the BRAT (Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast) diet for diarrhea.

I think your already covered with the BRAT diet. Applesauce with give Asher nutrients that he needs, bananas and rice will help stop the diarehea. And I thought the t stood for TEA not Toast.
