Cate's party was on Saturday and her birthday was Sunday. we had a lot of fun. food, cake and presents at our house then went to the pool. they have a GREAT little kids wadding pool that kept all the little ones entertained. i of course tried making the cake myself but the frosting turned out disasterous (just like last year) and DH had to run out and buy a DQ ice cream cake! we also had company all weekend, so Cate's nap and sleep schedule was thown so off, on Monday she work up at 5:30am, feel alseep by 10:30am and took over a three hour nap!! ahhh, my toddler!!

Aw, sweet 2 year old b-day parties. Parenting fail over here..........I got a mini-carrot cake from Trader JOe's for DH and the boys, lemon sorbet for me (most sweets are super nauseating to me), and we just did a little happy birthday song with candles.........and Owen HATED IT! He cried the whole time. Usually, he likes to be the center if attention, but not when singing happy birthday apparently.

If I could find my memory card adapter, I'd post a pic, b/c it was very funny.

We have 2 year olds!

I cried when he turned one. Lol! We are doing his party Sunday since everyone has plans. I can't wait!

so i'd like to hear about everyone's *TERRIBLE TWOS* experience thus far...

Cate has tantrums all the time. most recently she'd discovered SHRIEKING. she also hits when angry, and spits just because (not when angry). it's the shrieking and hitting that bother me the most. we try time-outs, but they only go over half the time. MIL says they did soap in the mouth at 2.

i just don't know what type of discipline will work/is working.

Owen's a pusher.........like he'll literally go up to a kid, say "Hi!" and push them (sometimes hitting, but usually that's reserved for big brother). When he does it I give him a version of time-out (he doesn't get to play and has to sit still on my lap for a minute or two), during which I tell him that it's not okay to push (or hit), and that for touching people, we use gentle hands. Then I walk him over to his victim and make him say he's sorry. My oldest did the same thing at that age, and I handled it the same way. Now he doesn't push or hit.

Sofiya is very mild mannered compared to my 3 year old. But when she is having a temper tantrum, she goes in her crib. While I am not a believer in "CIO" I do think it has always worked best for us to revert to quiet time. She usually calms down and come out, or she takes a nap, lol. I am not sure what I would do if she threw a temper tantrum in public, lol, she hasn't yet. She is so happy go lucky and these trantrums really only happen when she is tired.

She is a little rambunctious and into stuff, but she gets it from the 3 year old..... The combo is a killer for me!

shawn is in the no phase. everything is no! he also pushes, punches, bites, pinches, and anything else he can find to do. he has also started climbing EVERYTHING! i caught him on the bookself this morning. hes a turd.
