Losing that extra skin?

I am 14 months post baby so it's been a while. I'm down to my prepreggo weight and size...if not a tad smaller...BUT how do you get rid of all the extra skin?! I gained like 30ish pounds and it was all in the belly and boobs. I lost the weight and stretch marks went away but my skin just hangs off my belly and never really fully retracted. It's gotten tighter slowly but when I sit down it just hangs over my pants and it's not fat...it's skin and it's gross! Any advice on how to help it retract and be tight again?

It definitely gets tighter with time and exercise, but Im not sure it ever will be as tight as it was before. :-(

Re: Losing that extra skin?

tummy tuck. I have been very blessed to have 2 sets of twins. I am overweight, but on top of that, my skin is very loose at the bottom of my belly. It's horribly ugly to me. I want to lose weight, but I'm honestly scared of the skin looking worse and worse as there is less to fill it out. (Bad reason not to lose weight. Obviously, it isn't really the reason, but it's a real fear of mine.)

Right now, I'm pregnant again and this is very likely my last. If I can ever get rid of this extra weight, I may actually get a tummy tuck. But the thought it is kind of freaks me out too. So, I don't know. I love my kids, but boy do I hate this nasty skin that was left behind.

As far as I know it's an elasticity issue, and that can't be exercised away.

i was 290 when i delivered DS1. i stayed around 230 for a few years and after finally getting down to 135 lbs i discovered an awful surprised, puckery skin just hanging there from my belly button down. it was very unfortunate to see. no matter what magic creams i used or stomach work outs the skin remained.

My mom finally had a tummy tuck in her 40s. It looked so painful. Not sure I'll do the same.

I saw pictures of one on here a while back, it looked brutal. I always wondered what would happen if you got pregnant post tuck.

Re: Losing that extra skin?

Darn it. I was afraid that'd be the answer. I got SO HUGE only in my belly so it's the only place I have tons of skin hanging off. Everything else is skinny again or even more so. My tummy bounced back a little but it still hangs out over pants. I've tried exercising, creams and a bunch of other things. I lost weight, thinking it would help and it looks worse. Urg...

I'm right there with you will probably opt for the tummy tuck when I'm in a little better shape and can afford it, but the idea of it still kinda freaks me out.
