Re: I can't believe this

I'm so sorry!!!

I can totally relate. My daughter has a severe allergy (deadly) to peanuts. We sent out a big letter to everyone before the holidays reminding them about the allergy and to make sure no food came with peanuts. While at my sister-in-laws house (mind you we used to spend every weekend there before we moved) my daughter was eating her lunch at the table. My sister-in-law pops a plate right next to her (within her reach) for my nephew. It took me a moment but I realized it was peanut butter and jelly!!!!! WTH??? What if I hadn't been sitting there next to her? (she's 2) What if she'd tried to eat it. I was soooo mad. And SIL acted like it was no big deal. Grrrr.

OMG!@!! That SO sounds like something my MIL would do1! Meghan is 16 months old and I JUST gave her a raw carrot this Christmas and I was major paranoid about choking.

thats what it has come to for me. I have pretty much told everyone w/in earshot - give him anything unless they want to hand wash the poopydiapers streaked with blood and I'll call them at midnight when hes wakeful and in pain!!! they just b**** about it now - but won't give him anything.

Re: I can't believe this

I would be have screamed at them, I would have been such a butt. I cannot believe they would feed a baby a carrot and allow the baby to walk around like that....People are just wierd, it's like their parenting skills go out the window when it is someone else's kid.

Re: I can't believe this

That's horrible , I'm so sorry. I make sure if my kids have to go to my MIL I pack their food and they are only allowed to eat what I send with, plus I stick a post-it to them on of what they can't eat.

Re: I can't believe this

I wouldn't be too upset with the carrot per se because you said you DD has enough teeth to chew it. However... I'd have a massive problem with the mere fact that she's allergic (ok, highly sensitive... i had to go back to double check that- but still) and they gave it to her anyway.

I hope she's doing ok and not having severe issues and that you feel better soon. You can always calmly tell them that you're unhappy with what they gave her. I know it's a long shot, but maybe they forgot about the sensitivity? I don't know... but I do hope things calm down for you soon with this. It's so not fun having to deal with nasty dipes from a food sensitivity/allergy.
