Can you use Lanolin as rash cream

I read a thread on here that said Lanolin works as a rash cream and melts right off the dipes in a hot wash, thus no liners are needed. Is this true?

Lanolin does work really well for a rash cream, but since it is used to waterproof wool I would think you would need a liner too. I wouldnt risk it without having a liner on.

You can, but you might have to strip them, but not as many times as you would with a popular rash cream. At least they won't have the fishy smell that desitin leaves behind.

You should put some breastmilk on the rash first -- then add the lanolin.

Re: Can you use Lanolin as rash cream

Lanolin is so sticky I don't think I personally would use it as a rash cream, even if it washes right out (and I also have doubts about whether it would wash right out -- but I guess it depends on how much lanolin there is vs how much soap/detergent).

There are other rash creams that are safe for cloth diapers and do not require liners, and personally I would use those first. I use a lanolin hand cream that I get from New Zealand (it only has a bit of lanolin in it and isn't sticky to apply). Other mamas here seem to like the butter from Northern Essence and I've seen quite a few people say the Burt's Bees one worked just fine for them.

I've used lanolin as a rash cream and had no issues. It worked really well at clearing up the rash, too!

I don't know if it works great as a rash cream, but it is great for chapped lips!

I have used it, with my cheaper pf's. I wouldn't dare on dipes I spent "real" money on lol. But I have never had an issue. You only need a very small amount and use it the same as you would on your breast. I also agree that using breastmilk is great on diaper rashes.

I have used it as a rash cream, and I love it. I only used it with my prefolds though. I wouldn't use it on pockets. Lanolin does eventually wash out, I just wouldn't want to risk that on man-made fibers.

It totally is!

I make a Butt Butter that has liquid lanolin as part of the ingredients...I found that if it's mixed in its liquid form with other great butters, it really works well and doesn't repel or stain.
