flannel burb cloths (gerber)

are these good for prefolds? They look like they repel liquid??
How often do I have to wash them to make them absorbend?
Or shouldn't I buy these as a prefold for a smaller newborn?

With a few prep washes you may be able to use those as prefolds, flannel is actually REALLY absorbent! And yes, after a few washes you can snappi flannel.

I was always told you couldn't use those. But I never understood why. I guess it's because of the fact that they don't hold as much as other prefolds? IDK, I'm still new to all this. It makes since to use them for smaller babies anyways. They don't look as bulky.
