Tricycle For a Small Toddler?

My son is 19 months old, but has really short legs(size 6 month pants still are a wee bit long). He so desperately wants a tricycle but I can't find any that he can reach the ground or pedals on. We have a ride on toy (that car from FP that is a walker then closes and is a car), but every time he sees a bike (my own included) he tries to climb on. And when you put him on a bike his whole face just glows.

Do they sell little bitty trikes, or will we have to wait for a growth spurt?

Re: Tricycle For a Small Toddler?

Geez. I had an itty bitty bike when I was his age. Of course this was 35 years ago! But I totally learned to ride a bike before I was two. There was a thread on here about a balance running bike with no pedals. They sit on it and walk their legs like normal. Maybe he'd be fine at pedaling but maybe that would be perfect for him! I know Step2 has them also for like $25.
But I had an 8" wheel pedal bike & I learned how to ride it in a hallway in my house. I totally get his love of the bike! Nurture it mama! It just might take some adjusting to get him the right one.
Good luck!

Hmm. I have checked Wal-mart. I am in Canada. So maybe the stock is different.

That running bike looks neat, but we essentially have something like that, I think DS likes the idea of pedals. And something that looks like what big kids have.

The smallest trike I've seen is a little Radio Flyer at Walmart for $45.

I get ya! Like the big guys! I'd google it and see what you get. Maybe look for something like "pedal trike for 12 month old" or something that would narrow it down to only smaller stuff. I wish I had my little bike from when I was a baby. It was the smallest little bike I'd ever seen. Like a circus bike! Hey, maybe look for "circus bike"!
But anyway, my brothers destroyed it! They drove it into our lagoon. There was alot of stuff in that water way!
My brothers are onry!

These look promising. But it would suck to order one, pay for importing and still have it be too big, lol.

Re: Tricycle For a Small Toddler?

I have a daycare. All toddlers and young preschoolers.

The fisher price tough trike is the best trike we have ever had. They last two or three years of heavy use, and even the little kids can pedal it by age two, but they are still able to ride it at age four or five.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20 But, I only pay 19.99 a peice at wal mart. And, I don't put the character stickers on.

I buy three or four of these every few years, and they sit outside from September til May. (phoenix summers kill toys) and they hold up year after year.
