How long should prune juice take to "kick in" for constipated baby

I gave my 8 months old a lot of prune juice yesterday for constipation (probably 6 oz!) and I gave him more this morning with breakfast and still no poop. Does it normally take a couple days? I don't want to keep giving it to him and overdo it and give him the runs...

I know I should know this by now - he's my fourth baby, but I have only had one other have constipation problems and he's now 11 so it seems like an eternity since I have had to deal with this and I have just forgotten the tricks!

I don't know how long it takes but you can also try a warm bath and a tummy rub.

Not sure....prune juice never worked for my kids when they were constipated. I used Karo syrup and that sometimes worked....after days of no pooping I would use a suppository...but that was after like 3 or 4 days of no pooping. I usually just waited it out if Karo syrup didn't stir up some poop! LOL Sorry if I am no help!

Sounds like maybe Prune Juice isn't going to work for your 8month old. That much Prune Juice should of made your little one go and go and go in a matter of mins (it always worked for my Nephews) if it was going to work.

Not sure what else you could try sorry. If your little one was a year old or older I'd say go get a couple of White Castles see if that helps. They don't call them "Sliders" for nothing.

It's OK, next time I'll make you listen. I wish that it were in the power of all children to say that to their parents and to know that indeed they would be heard as we were in those wonderful days on Waltons Mountain.Narrator The Waltons (From the Runaway in Season 3 Eposide 4.)

Prune juice never seemed to do much for my kids. But apple juice or grape juice (red, not white) sure does.
