My 4 month old is biting me, a lot....
So, I told my hubby I would come in here to see if this is normal or if anyone has any suggestions to help her stop.
My little girl started biting off and on a couple of weeks ago. Well the past few days she has been BITING me every single time she nurses, more than once, like several times. This last time we sat down to nurse she bit me hard at the beginning, and then was biting at the end. It hurts pretty bad. She doesn't have teeth, but let me tell you that being mellow and nursing when all the sudden BAM, that does not feel good.

Oh I hear you. Biting is no fun. Maybe your DD is starting to have some teeth move in her mouth so she's wanting pressure on her gums.
Whatever the reason, here's what I did with my DD. When she bit me while nursing I immediately stopped the feeding. I covered my breast and moved her away from my body - usually setting her on the floor. She didn't like it, but she quickly got the message that biting = no more boobie. If I knew she was hungry still, I would start feeding her again after 2 or 3 minutes. I would just wait long enough for that connection to sink in. It didn't take too long for my DD to learn not to bite. She still "tested" biting every few weeks, but it would only take one or two nursing interruptions for her to relearn the lesson. I hope this helps! Good luck, those surprise bites are terrible. |

Re: My 4 month old is biting me, a lot....
I went through the same things a couple of weeks ago. I yelped a few times and that scared DS off the breast for a moment. I also would give him a flick in the cheek and a firm "no" when I could catch him in the act. He would get this really concentrated look in his eyes and push his mouth into my breast and bite. He is not doing it anymore. You can actually see the thought process and he gently takes his mouth off of my breast.
