Re: rice cooker?

yes, we have one, though im not sure what it is. i don't think you can really go wrong, but i do recommend you get one. you can use it for more than just rice. other grains for example. i have used ours for quinoa, and it worked perfect.

I have one! Very easy! I've used it to make real oatmeal, too, for DD.

Re: rice cooker?

Rice cookers are very versatile and easy. It was my only kitchen appliance when I was living in a dorm, and I made all kinds of stuff. Anyway, I think most rice cookers on the market are pretty much the same. I have an Aroma, and it works great.

Re: rice cooker?

I grew up with one in use every day, but we like most things with white rice. Yay for rice cookers!

Some will come with an additional steam tray so you can use it as a steamer.

I think ours is westinghouse or something. Got it from a Kmart closing. If you want one with a fancy fliptop lid, kinda like the ones you see at Chinese food places, Tiger makes those, but they're... pretty expensive.

...I kinda want one, because they look cool

"Daddy Diapers"? What are those? If he can't figure it out, we're using the wrong ones.

Re: rice cooker?

I use a pressure cooker for grains and legumes. It does so many things well, but my MIL is afraid of them. She's also afraid of her kitchen. LOL.

Re: rice cooker?

We got a rice cooker about 1.5 months ago and love it! It's from CVS and this week it's on sale again for $9.99. It's a smaller one and is perfect for our family for a couple days of rice! It also comes with a steam tray.

Re: rice cooker?

I posted about this awhile back, and did end up buying one. First we got the "rival" brand because it was a familiar brand name to me (like the crockpots) but it spit steam and rice water everywhere! If you look at it, that little hole in the lid just allows the rice water to spit everywhere. We returned it and got the Aroma brand and it has a much better steam valve, it doesn't spit everywhere. It was $25 at Target (on sale, its normally $30 I think). I really like how it makes rice perfectly!
