Re: Only 2 carseats make consumers cut.
IN that video it looks like the seat belt is not buckled to the base but on top of the seat that is not right? None the less that seat still came off of its base wow scary you think your baby is safe

Re: Only 2 carseats make consumers cut.

If they did it that way, the test would be flawed. |

Re: Only 2 carseats make consumers cut.
I am not sure wbout how each seat is supposed to be installed but I am putting faith in Consumer Reports. In the TV clip they spoke with certified car seat techs so I would guess that they were installed correctly. It's scary looking but makes sense when you think of it from a physics perspective. If that infant seat base is belt along the back of the base and the car gets whacked it's not going to just sit on the seat. It's going to fly about like it showed. Does that make sense?

*sigh*
This has been posted ALL over the board, it simply is crap to be blunt about it. CR is crap. There are AWESOME seats on that list - Britax being one of the safest seats. Seriously, take CR w/a grain of salt! Please.

Re: Only 2 carseats make consumers cut.
I just found it to be interesting. I look at it this way....first of all when I was born it was ok for a mom to take her baby from the hospital to home in her lap. Carseats were not required by law.
I wouldn't go to that extreme now because I do feel it is very important to follow the "laws of the land", however, I think we can get totally crazy trying to get the best of everything. Bottom line as far as my thinking goes, they are safer in "a" seat than in nothing. Now, if I needed a new seat I would to with Consumers Reports because they do have tests for the main reason of helping us out, and keeping us safe. But I wouldn't freak out if I had a seat other than the two listed. I just found this to be interesting information and thought I'd pass it along. I'm sorry I didn't read the other posts about it on the other forums I didn't want to start a debate, just send along a helpful link. Mandi |
