The joys of being an "immersion parent"

I think I have mentioned that my oldest goes to a french immersion school (everything is taught in French) and my other ones will go there too...

so I am helping H1 with her homework - ugh

It is getting harder and harder

She had a true or false thing...

La Limonade est salée
La fourmi est un petit animal
Le malade avale son coude
Le cheval joue avec des dominos

Ummm.,,,, yeah my french needs help - so free translation doesn't work real well. LOL

Lemonade is salted
The ant is a small animal
The sick man swallows the elbow
The horse plays with dominoes

That's awesome. I got offered a chance to go to a french immersion school when I was in high school, but we couldn't afford it.

Re: The joys of being an "immersion parent"

ours is a public school - so free. Granted - we are "expected" to write out a $300/per kid check at the beginning of the year to the PTA - they fund the french trainees in each classroom, so....

DD is a 5th year french student so we were looking at this! She says the first one is Lemon soda is dirty..not salty..Limonade is ,emon soda apparantly...

the others seem to be right but it says the sick man swallowed his elbow...not that that helps any!

Re: The joys of being an "immersion parent"

Just wondering where you are? I'm in NB and we have a lot of public french immersion because we are the "bilingual province" I didn't know that they had public french immersion elsewhere

we are in MN - twin cities area- we actually have 2 French Immersion public schools and one private. These are full immersion.

My comment was that I was trying to help her and I punched them into a free translator and the WRONG things came up.

I think the in Canada French Immersion is free anywhere it is offered. I took french k-12 (but it's so rusty I can't help with your phrases). Where I grew up there is even French only schools (Saskatchewan)
