APNO questions

I finally got some APNO, but the only instruction it came with is "apply after each feeding." So if someone could clarify some things for me, that would be helpful.
1. Do I need to wipe it off before DD nurses again?
2. Should I let it dry before I clip my bra flaps back up? Will it make me stick to my breast pads?
3. It seems like the mixture is real grainy...is that how it's supposed to be?
4. Anything else important I should know?

The mixture should not be grainy. It should be kinda like vaseline.

You don't need to wipe it off. It has things in it that will help with thrush & such too, which is good for baby to have in the mouth, just incase that's part of the problem. A little bit of grainy is ok b/c it's a compound that includes a powder - hard to make it totally dissolve in ointment. It doesn't need to dry - it's like a vaseline. It won't dry, but it won't stick either.
And - don't use it more than about 7 days in a row!!! The steriod that is in it tends to break down skin, which is currently sensitive to start! If you need it more than 7 days, leave it alone & consult a MW or Dr or LC (depending on the underlying prob). I have used it on & off (with a few days in between to let my skin rest), with no problems. Many people have shown probs if they use it continually past 1 wk though. IMO not worth trying! It should clear up everything in those 7 days. If it doesn't, there is another problem here.
