Is it okay to ask here? I want to decrease my supply!
My son is almost 8 months old, and I am AD military so I have been pumping almost constantly since I had to go back to work at 6 weeks pp. I tried to nurse him when we were at home and through the night, but when he started teething he just absolutely refused to nurse anymore (around 4-5 months)
I really wish I could have stayed home and EBFd him, but it just wasn't an option ![]() Anyways, I am SOOOO excited because our deep freezer is completely FULL of breastmilk and I can stop pumping soon! It was very important for me that he had breastmilk exclusively for the first year, and I probably have enough frozen milk to last another 6 months, I had a huge oversupply from pumping. One of the big reasons I want to stop is so that I can start taking Elavil again for my chronic pain issues, otherwise I would keep going for a while yet. Anyways, I heard that vitamin B6 can decrease your supply. Is that bad for the milk or does it just make your supply go down? I am still freezing everything I pump so I will do that until it dries up completely.

Re: Is it okay to ask here? I want to decrease my supply!
I always suggest eliminating 1 pump or feeding session to decrease the supply. Maybe start with the afternoon pumping. Just eliminate it. It may be uncomfortable for a few days, but that will signal to your body that you do not need milk at that time. Then once that is going well, maybe drop the next feeding that you do not really need.
You can also get the No More Milk tincture. I heard that sage also decreases your supply

Re: Is it okay to ask here? I want to decrease my supply!
I have been spacing my pumping sessions further apart lately so that won't be a problem. Really the only time I HAVE to pump is before I go running, and when I wake up in the morning or go to bed at night.
I'm going to check out the no more milk thing, thank you!
