what to make with only a serger

My mom is supposed to get me a sewing machine for my birthday (which is today) but she went away for the week with my stepfather for his birthday (which was yesterday) so I won't be getting that until she comes home next weekend.

I have MILs serger (which I'm loving) and I'm going to make some washcloths for now, and some pillowcases for my DDs for Christmas. What else can I make with just a serger? (and very little handsewing, for like, closing up holes etc)

So far with JUST my serger I've made a pair of T-shirt pants(http://community.livejournal.com/t_s...5.html?page=2), unpaper towels, wipes, family cloth, a quilt and a few hats. I made MOST of a boppy cover, I used a sewing machine to put in the zipper though.

Oh those tshirt pants look neat. I'm just trying to figure out how to sew the waistband part (where you fold it over and sew straight across) because with a serger, won't it cut it off?

No. You should make those the same way you make longies

You make the circle waistband first (so you serge the long band into a circle first), and then you connect it to the pants part.

Re: what to make with only a serger

Kind of funny, I ended up cutting the sleeves open, and turning the pants right side out, then tacking the(raw edges, leaving the cuff part intact) front and backs INSIDE of the pants right side of waistband touching wrong side of pants, serging around the edges, then pulling the waist band out, sewing the seams with a little overlap on the right side of the pants, snipping and folding down like yoga pants. The first pair I had to go back and make the waist band MUCH tighter because I cut the finished part of the original sleeve off (oops) They are super comfy. Hope it's not too confusing.
