Longies Pattern Recommendation
Hi I am looking for another longies pattern. What does everyone use or like? I have been using the sheepy pants but I'm not a fan of the gusset. Any suggestions? I looked at the wonderpants but you need the 40" circs right? I don't have those or have a clue how to use them.

Re: Longies Pattern Recommendation
I like Freckle. Her gusset is easy peasy. What is it specifically you don't like about the gusset? They are pretty easy to change.

Re: Longies Pattern Recommendation
I started out with the Wonderpants, but I didn't have a 40" circ. Instead I used two separate circs for the legs. I REALLY want to try the Freckle bottoms but I'm a little hesitant to try anything with a gusset . . . still a newbie

Re: Longies Pattern Recommendation
Thanks mamas
What I don't like about the gusset on sheepy is the way it seems like the stitches really pull creating holes. Do you think not having the extension would help? Do I really need the extension?

Re: Longies Pattern Recommendation
You don't need the extension just add three more rows before you add the gusset so your rise is the right length. I don't do the first increases like she does either because I don't like the holes. What I do is when I get ready to break for the back gusset I place a marker 1 stitch before the CBM, knit 1, remove CBM, knit 1, place marker. So you will have *marker 2 stitches marker*. I do the same thing for the front. Then I skip KRL/KLL and just do the M1F/M1B increases on the next round after placing my two markers. Then I pick up 6 stitches instead of 4 for the legs. Also I close the gusset first before starting the legs.

Re: Longies Pattern Recommendation
I really like the wonderpants pattern, but hate to magic loop, so just knit the legs separately.
I also start my gusset with 2 stitches between the increases

Re: Longies Pattern Recommendation
So can I do the body of the longies on 16" instead of the 40"? Sorry I didn't buy the pattern yet and I don't know what it says and I don't have 40" circs.

Re: Longies Pattern Recommendation
Yup - you can basically do whatever you normally do for longies. The major difference is the gusset.
