Re: Please tell me what crock pot you have if you love it and it's BIG!
I will have to dig it out to look but my fave I got from walmart. It's really big too. It's a coated stone (so it's save in the micro & the oven too) that sits in the crock heater thing... does this make sense? Makes cleanup a breeze too b/c you can toss it in the DW. It's green w/ivy on it LOL I'll have to look later.

Hey Tonia,
I have this one, except mine's not stainless steel: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20 It's awesome, works great for us - it's really big, I even cook a chicken in it. Come to think of it, we cooked our ham for Christmas in it too (lid didn't fit on but we covered it in foil instead). I've never had one that's programmable but they don't get such hot reviews on Amazon - I wonder if they break more easily? Anyway, it's BIG and it works!! MMp.s. A mama in our church with 8 kids gave it to me for my wedding - I think it probably would work for your family! Ha ha.

Quote:
I have a 6 quart Rival "Smart Pot" (w/the push button controls), a 5 quart Rival round, a 3.5-ish quart Rival and a 3 quart round. . . ummm Rival. I guess it's Rival for me. I haven't had many problems with mine. I did have to warranty the heating element on the Smart Pot, but they made me pay shipping, and as you can imagine, that was pricey. The crock on my 5 quart cracked eventually (we used it that way for some time ), but we found a replacement at the thrift store. I always see them there. I don't use the smaller ones nearly as much, but I cook in one or the other of the big ones at least a couple times a week. Sometimes, I have them both going on the same day. The one bad thing I learned about the push button style is that if your power goes off (even for a few minutes) and your not home, dinner's lost. Luckily, when I learned this lesson, I was home and was able to turn it back on.HTH! ETA: I can make a pot of soup/stew/chili in the 6 quart and it will typically last two meals for our family of 6, so it's a pretty good size. I would love one a little bigger still. I have three boys and 1 girl and pretty soon, we won't make it to the second meal. Last edited by stacim; 01-07-2007 at 07:17 PM. |
