What does delivering "Naturally" mean to you?

So before I explain what delivering "naturally" means to me I was hoping to get some responses.

I know this question is vague...but once I have some answers...I will explain in more depth.

Thanks in advance.

- ok so now that i have some feedback...THANK YOU. THANK YOU for making me feel like i am not crazy . these are all the answers i was hoping to hear. however lately...i have been told that "such and such had a natural birth." however...when they say "natural" they only mean vaginally.

how sad is that?...that our society thinks natural means vaginal. they totally disregard the interventions and medications. why is that?

So now for another question...

if you deliver vaginally with no epidural...what should that be considered?

how about vaginally without an epidural...but with iv's and pit?

or vaginally without an epidural...with medical interventions (such as...but not limited to, internal monitoring, vacuum, forceps, etc)?

Is "natural" all or nothing?

Thanks

To me, it's no medical interventions. So, no drugs, no IV's, no forceps or vacuums, no episiotomy, etc. But I realize that most simply define it as no drugs so in regular conversation that's what I stick to.

Some people have told me that they had a natural birth.....but what they really mean is they haven't had an epidural but they took pitocin, demerol (spell?), or other drugs to induce contractions or "take the edge off".

See I take it as Natural when there is No Pain Meds. I don't consider Pitason a Drug when its Not mood or Pain altering its just to speed the labor. I have heard some say Natural child birth is Not having a C-section which I don't agree thats just a Vaginal birth in my eyes.
I had my First child Totally Natural No drugs at all labored for 28 hours tot pushed like a champ for 3 of them No pain meds, No pit nothing Just me and a Big ol rubber ball.

now My last 3 I opted for the Epidural and I don't regret it at all but I am pretty proud to say I had a Natural birth at least 1 out of 4 Times.

I take natural birth to mean a vaginal birth where there were no methods of induction, no pain meds, no forceps, no episiotimy, etc. Pretty much no medical intervention. Intervention of any sort is in no way part of the natural birth process, therefore to me it is not considered "natural".

No modern medical interventions whatsoever! ie injecting anything into the body, because everything is harmful to both mother and baby. Most will make their own definition to defend their choices. I do realize we don't all have the option of have a natural birth, I've lived on both sides. DS1 was born at home and with DS2 I had placenta previa and needed a c-section.

Natural to me, means:

no medicine @ all including pitocin, epidural, emena, hep-lock only (b/c its mandatory in the hosp.), and being able to labor in whatever way I want to get the baby out w/o assistance
