Re: Bad appointment
That really stinks...I hate having to wait so long in the waiting room for your appointment.
FWIW~ I had an U/S done at 9 weeks with my second and we could see her quite easily.

Re: Bad appointment
I always waited at least an hour for my ob appts with my first baby. I understand they are delivering babies, but every appointment? Then he would see me for 2 minutes. It was a waste of time.
I love my midwife. I feel the quality of care is better. I would happily wait an hour to meet with her

Re: Bad appointment
Another vote for a midwife!
I've had both - Dr.s & Midwives and I choose a midwive hands down!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately to some degree a Dr. is only as good as his staff is. If you can't deal with the nurses or receptionist then the message never gets to the Dr. Had personal experience with this! We have 6 and I was raised partly by a nurse and my uncle is a Dr. No matter how much you like the Dr. - it's not going to do you a lot of good if the nurse & staff don't handle things as they should to get the info to the Dr. Not reading your chart before they see you is inexcusable!!!!!! What if they had been in an office and decided to give medicine and hadn't read your chart and found out you were actually allergic to it! I know that sounds out there but it isn't! If they don't look at your chart (only takes 2 or so min before they walk in the door to review your last visit or any labs) then they are NOT NOT NOT doing their job!!!! ok - off my soap box now! I vote midwife!

Re: Bad appointment
I would definitely change providers. In my experience, if they are late once, they are usually running late. Considering that you will be there for many visits, the waste of my time is not worth it. I would find a provider who values your time more.

Re: Bad appointment
Thanks mamas.
I meet with a wonderful midwife today and I am going with her to deliver my baby. I felt very comfortable with her right away. I am going to deliver at a Baby Friendly hosiptal about 40 min. away from us. They are all about what is best for the baby and mom, and the baby will never leave my room. Oh yeah they have an awesome tub to labor in and huge rooms. Very exciting, I was getting a little stressed about what I was going to do. I am so glad I found this midwife, no more long waits and unknowable staff/nurses.Last edited by prissygirls; 05-25-2006 at 07:42 PM. |
