Info for ttc mamas
I know many of us are in the same boat, and I am starting infertility diagnosis and thought I would share the process. My insurance covers 100% of diagnosis (up to $1500), but no fertility treatments. I think that many insurance companies are like this. I just found out the the begining process is not all that expensive and your regular gyn or family doctor can order some simple blood work. Most insurance covers all labs. So maybe it would help some of you to try (I know money is tight all around).
Here is what I am having. On the third day of regular AF (not spotting af) I am having bloodwork. I am having: Prolactin/tsh (tsh is thyroid , which I had checked after my first mc) FSH (folicle stimulating hormone) LH (lutinizing hormone) Estradiol So all in all, this part is not expensive. Then around o time, I go in for more bloodwork. This is a lot cheaper than u/s and the like. Hope this helps someone. If you have a good relationship with your doc, you can probably get these ordered without an office visit. After all my blood work is complete (unless they find the answer) dh will have a semon anaysis. I think that is more expensive. Let me know if you have any questions. I would be more than happy to share. P.S. I have previously been diagnosised with folicle cycts. Right after I ovulate, a unused egg gets large in my ovary (about the size of an egg). It is very painful, but is not causing my problems. Good Luck to us all. Karylle |

I too have been in the same boat. Luckily if you are ever prescribed Clomid, its only about $50/cycle which is ALOT cheaper than injectibles. If you need progesterone replacement however, its about $200 depending on if you take oral or suppositories.

Re: Info for ttc mamas
Well AF was supposed to come today and it is not here. BFN too. That means I can't start my fertility testing until next cycle since the lab is closed on Sunday and you need to be in the 3rd day of AF.
