Re: 18 m/o still doesn't sttn

No advice here. Just wanted to tell you that I feel your pain. Some kiddos just aren't good sleepers. My 3 yo just started sleeping through the night in August and sometimes still crawls in our bed in the middle of the night. Most of the time when he gets up, he wants to play so it's a big discussion about it being sleep time. I hope it gets better for you

Re: 18 m/o still doesn't sttn

I know you say you don't have the option of putting your LO into another room... but let me tell you it made a huge difference for us.

We used to live in a 1 bedroom apartment, until she was 11 months old. She sttn from about 2 months to around 7 mos. She started teething, getting colds etc, and between 7-11 months hardly ever STTN. As a result we were all run down, getting sick etc, tired, going crazy. We moved into a bigger place right before christmas and she got her own little girl room, right across the hallway from us. The very first night we moved in, she slept 11 hours straight, no fuss. And since then, absolutely no night-waking anymore except when she is sick or teething (and even then it's only normally once). I really believe that she was just aware of us in the room with her and that was the reason she got to a certain age and stopped STTN. I don't make any guarantees but we were actually shocked that it made such a huge difference.

Good luck!

My 16 month old DS still doesn't sttn. He sleeps in his own room and it hasn't made that much of a difference from cosleeping, so I personally don't think moving them out is the answer.

I'm sorry! I know it is exhausting.

We put DS in the pack-n-play and put that it our closet (it fit, and we could close the door somewhat so he couldnt see us. (Sound odd, yes, but it worked wonders!) Granted our clothes were in the hall closet, in baskets, etc, but we were getting sleep!!

Yep- as I said, no guarantees, but I can only say what definitely did the trick for us. I'm sure it's very dependent on the kid and the reason they aren't STTN. You just have to do what works for you!

My son has always slept in his own room and his own bed...not crib (he hated the crib) since he was 1 and didn't sleep through the night until 3yrs old...it is sounding like a boy thing!

My 10 month old still wakes up every 2 hours, and this thread is making me think that it isn't going to end anytime soon....
