Re: When did you start sippy cups?

DS started taking a sippy when he started solids. it took a few months for him to really get the concept of drinking out of it, and not just chewing on the spout lol. I've tried a few different brands with him and he prefers the nuby soft spout. Nuby's are super easy to clean, less of a pain than the avent.

Re: When did you start sippy cups?

DS is 9 months and still just likes to chew on it (even the soft spout ones). I got him a Nuby with a straw the other day and he managed to get something out of it once, then went right back to chewing on the straw.

Re: When did you start sippy cups?

Introduced DD1 when she was 7 monthes (same as solids) She didnt cae much for the avent cups, or any soft spouts (weird one from the start) Sle would only drink from Gerber cups w/ hard spouts for 5-6 monthes. I have 2 soft spouts, but the vents are missing....They make them now all one piece, so that would prolly be better

Re: When did you start sippy cups?

Jackson at 9 months started with the Playtex First Sipsters. He loves them. He couldn't do cups befpre that. We'd been trying since 6 months.

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.

Re: When did you start sippy cups?

My oldest DS got the sippy around 8-9 months, but it was just a toy. He finally figured out how to use it around 12 months or so when we were phasing out the bottle.

Re: When did you start sippy cups?

You could absolutely skip bottles and go to a sippy if your ds will take it.

We started giving dd sippies for practice when we intro'd solids after she turned 6mos old. We really only put a little water in the bottom and it was just so that she'd learn how to drink from a cup. But that's when we gave them.

No need to start with bottles now if you don't want to - it's not like he'll be harmed by never having taken a bottle.

Re: When did you start sippy cups?

My ds was a big healthy boy and at about 5ish months we started a cup. Off a bottle at 11 months using a cup only. He was sitting at 4 1/2 months, crawling just before 6 months.

The girls aren't so big and strong. Older dd was about 7 months when she was finally understanding it. Lilly is 4 1/2 months now and not even close to sitting or holding her own cup (she's 13lbs) so we've got a while yet.

I say if he's ready then go for it. There is no reason you have to use a bottle.
