I tell her not to be suprised if dh shows up at her door with the baby, and kinda holds him out to her and says "Make him stop screaming!".

It's not so bad now, cause he's 18 months, but in the beginning I had to be at court a lot with our fs, and she told me that if dh ever needed to, he really could bring ds over. Ds was one of those babies who would rather starve than get a bottle.

we have talked abou this..... I was babysitting a mexican baby one day for a friend and she breastfed...well, the baby got hungry and in thier culture they nurse each others babies... and she kept screaming and rooting and screaming and rooting....lol.... I almost gave in....

i think i would feel a little weird about that.....each to their own i guess. i just don't think i could do that.

but yes every baby does deserve the best. i wouldn't be opposed to sharing my breast milk...but i couldn't actually nurse their child i don't think.

My grandma use to be a 'wet nurse' for another Momma. The Momma couldnt produce enough milk so my Mammie would nurse her baby too.

I have done this for more than one mom, and several people have nursed my babe.

I would definitly do it for someone else if they asked me. My SIL didnt want to nurse my niece ( said the baby wouldnt do it) and I was always tempted to try it and see if she would. I never did though. I dont know if I would want someone to breastfeed my child unless it was an absolute emergency. I see no reason not to do it though, it was very common in the past, especially in rich families for them to have a wet nurse.
