How much sleep does your 18mo old get?

DS was a cosleeper until about 11mo, and then I converted him, rather easily to a crib. And then a few illnesses later, he is back in our bed.
The problem is, he wont sleep well in our bed, but wont sleep AT ALL in his crib.
Sometimes, like today, he will take a long nap, 2 hours or so, but most days, he only sleeps for 20-40 minutes during the day, and wont go to sleep until 9 or 10, and wakes frequently, and then is up for the day at about seven.

He doesnt seem unusually cranky or anything, but I am just concerned that this is not enough sleep for an 18mo?
WDYT???

Re: How much sleep does your 18mo old get?

my 20mo sleeps for about 1.5 hrs during the day...bedtime is 2030 and she's up by 0700. my oldest boycotted naps by her first birthday and she always slept from about 2100 to 0700. so it all depends on the kiddo... don't worry about it and just stay consistent with bedtimes...i'm of the mind set that if the baby doesn't sleep well in my bed, then at the minimum, I will sleep well in my bed with baby in their bed.

Re: How much sleep does your 18mo old get?

My son ( he will be 2 on the 31st ) has been on the same schedule since he was 14 months. He sleeps from 9 pm to 9 am and takes a nap from 1:30-4:30 ( sometimes 5 or a little after) so on average he sleeps about 15 hours a day

Re: How much sleep does your 18mo old get?

Harrison (19 mo) is finally - knock on wood - settling into some kind of schedule. He naps from approx. 1pm til 2pm (or an extra 30-60 minutes on a good day!) He sleeps from 8pm until 7 or 7:30. He still gets up about once around 4:30 or so to nurse.

Re: How much sleep does your 18mo old get?

Donna is 20 months old.
She naps for 1.5-3 hrs during the day. (1 nap) and sleeps from 7-7:30pm until 8-8:30am. There are some days when she doesn't go to sleep until 8pm and then wakes up at 9am. Some days she's awake at 7:30am. I guess it just depends on how long she needs to sleep. If she naps longer, she tends to sleep better at night. Our son was the same way. The better nap he got, the better he slept at night. I think it's because they sleep better when not overtired. That's us
