What do you think of mamas who...

Please forgive me if I am out of line....I know I am new to the board!

But I don't understand why some mamas will put something up in FSOT with a high price and at the end of their post state:

"If this isn't sold by such and such a date then I am throwing it away/giving it to Goodwill"

I don't understand!!

If you are going to give it away/ throw it away why not offer it up FFS? Or even lower your price?
It kinda makes me sad thinking about some nice fluff or a sling sitting in the trash or at Goodwill where *gulp* someone might throw it away anyway thinking "Who would want this?!"

Does anyone else feel my pain?

Totally hear ya. Maybe they're not really going to throw it away. If they offer it at such a high price why would they trash it? KWIM?

yep...totally understand the frustration. I'd donate it to Miracle Diapers if there really was the intent to just trash it. I mean, if someone is willing to sell it, then it must still be in good condition, kwim? So give it to an organization that can actually do something with it because even at Goodwill or something, some of those people don't know what to do with it and it sits in a box in the back for years, kwim?

I had never seen this before until today. I make no apologies when I say that it is the most absurd thing I have ever seen on a FSOT board.

Now, Goodwill I can sort of understand, but actually throwing away a perfectly good item goes against all the morals and principals behind cloth diapering and natural family living.

I would take offers and just take whatever. I hate throwing stuff out. Especially if it's in decent shape! Speaking of...anyone want a Baby Bjorn????

I think it is stupid- sorry lol But why not just come down on your price or take offers. I have sold stuff very cheap sometimes but at least it is sold and going to someone who needs it. Or at least offer it on the FFS board. THere are always mamas in need of stuff.

I agree. I even asked about that. I noticed a couple other people did too. Never got a response or a reply to that. Gotta love a little drama....

Re: What do you think of mamas who...

I don't even think Goodwill would take them....
I know I've gotten excited finding some awesome prefolds at a second hand store. They were super thick and in great condition! But I think the previous owner (and the 2nd hand store!) thought they were just burp cloths!

I would flip if I saw a first rate sling or diaper somewhere!!

But the TRASH?!?! I can't even bring myself to throw away diapers that have no wear left in them! In the back of my mind I keep thinking "One day I can cut this diaper up and use the hemp as the stuffin' of another diaper!"
I just can't imagine putting money into something and then trashing it knowing how much it cost me and how much it could still be used!
eeps!

So sad!
