Cutting your DD hair from long to short???

My DD hair is almost to her butt. I am thinking about cutting it to shoulder length and donating her hair to Locks of Love. She will be 4 in January.

I just remember when my hair was long and getting tangled up in it while sleeping and always trying to keep it out of my face.

At what age did you cut her hair?
How long was it when you cut it?

I couldnt vote because u dont have other. my dd is only 18m. We dont have plans to cut her hair for awhile but dh and i vary greatly on what a while is. I think it being to her bum is too long for a young girl. too much to take care of. he doesnt.

She wanted an asymmetrical bob when she was about 5 1/2

She had never had more than a trim prior to that, so it was at least 2/3 the way down her back.

My sisters and I all had heair down past our bottoms. My mother was always told to cut it and she said no, she was letting us make that decision. I did not cut mine till I was 18 and then it was only to my waist.

I voted age 7 because prior to that, we'd only done minor trims to keep her hair neat. At age 7, her hair (which is spiral curls) was down to her butt and we cut it to shoulder length and donated it to Locks of Love. We waited a little longer because we wanted that decision to be hers.

Re: Cutting your DD hair from long to short???

When DD was 4-5 she told us she wanted her hair cut- we took her in and she picked out a chin length bob from the book- it was cute, but a big change, and she ended up not liking it. It had been about waist length. She decided to grow it back out, andat night we just braided it to help w/ the tangles. She isalmost 11 now, and hashad it cuut a couple more times, and has pretty well settled on about mid back length- short enough to not get into everythig, but long enough to put back when she wants too.

My advice if you do decide to cut it- don't do it all at once- 4-5" at a time, and then wait a couple weeks- then it is not such ashock, and you may get to a length she likes before you reach her sgoulders- you can always take more off, but you can't put it back- and it takes time to grow back!

DD is 2.5 and has just over shoulder length hair. We have just done trims to keep it neat but I am thinking when she is between 4-5 we will let her make a choice just like her brother for a hair cut if she wants.

Cadence is 7 and has never had more than a trim. We have no plans to cut it any time soon. She has beautiful spiral curls that go down to her booty. Curled up they are just above, when they are wet and combed out they go all the way down to just over midway on her hiney.

Re: Cutting your DD hair from long to short???

My parents made me keep my hair long when I lived at home. My mom will still try to guilt trip me when I talk about getting my hair cut. She did it on Sunday!! So I let my girls (and boys) decide how they want their hair. Well, as long as it's not too wild and crazy. Although we did let our oldest dd dye her tips purple, but it was temporary dye!!
