Wool Questions

I know this has been discussed a million times, but I was never interested... until now. You guys have talked me into it... I am getting my first wool cover from a swap. Sooo... is there any prep work in it.. like prefolds or anything.. I have seen wool wash and all that on here. Is there a special cleaning prepping thing/ soap that I need to buy for my one little cover? If so what? Do I need some other waterproof cover as well or the wool keeps out the wet? Any advice is appreciated. TIA

Re: Wool Questions

are you getting a snap cover or a soaker/longies?
you can wash with a dab of baby shampoo into lukewarm water, to keep it waterproof you will need to use lanolin. northern essence.com sells samples of wool wash and i think samples of lanolin too, these would be great if you only have 1 cover

Re: Wool Questions

you can buy johnsons baby wash in the baby isle at walmart,
the lanolin, you can buy lanisoh or purelan, i have never tried it but i read squeeze some out and put it into a cup of some water and toss into the micro until it melts, im not sure what they do next because you dont want to put hot water on your wool , it will shock it.
i dont know if they just let it cool down, because i dont know if that will clunk up the lanolin..

Re: Wool Questions

So I get the Lanisoh Lanolin like the breast cream stuff or there is some somewhere else... Nothern Essence has the wool wash cheap for a sample. I am going to get some of it I think. But I have to find out if it has TTO in it. DS is horribly allergic to it. Thanks for all your help Sally. I am sooo dumb when it comes to this.

Re: Wool Questions

I just ordered Honey, but only the sample size. It was only $1.56 with shipping!!! Awesome price. I will tell ya how that smells. Is angel wings girly smelling? I almost ordered it, but then I thought nahhh I don't want my little man smellin all girly. I have a complex I know... I hate the Johnsons Lavender (go night night) stuff because it smells soooo good, but soooo girly.
