Question about wear...is this normal?...WWYD?
I bought some new diapers at the begginning of October. They are bamboo fitteds with a sewn in soaker. I have followed ALL of the manufacturer's recommendations on care. My DD is 18 months old and I bought enough diapers so I'd only have to wash them 2-3 times a week. They have been in 24 diaper rotation.
I noticed yesterday that we are having some major wear issues. The fabric is wearing so badly near the sewn in soaker that it looks guazey. I'm kind of upset about it. I expected them to wear. I am rather disappointed in the length of time it took to happen. Is 3 months a normal diaper life? At this rate, they are going to have holes in them with a few more washes. 3 of the 9 I bought seem to be wearing in this fashion. The others still look new. Is this normal or should I contact the manufacturer? TIA! Melissa |

Re: Question about wear...is this normal?...WWYD?
Hmm hard to say. Bamboo is new and all the rage but it hasnt been around too long to know what is or isnt appropriate wear and tear. It may just be the nature of the fabric. I do know that dh and I have 2 sets of beechwood sheets for our bed so similar in that they are both more woody fabrics than a cotton or synthetic. I have to say the jersey version did not hold up very well there are several small holes and it pills and wear more than our other ones, so it could also be the type of bamboo used.
HTH, maybe someone else has more insight, heidi

I would contact the manufacturer and se what they say. You might even snap some picts for them to better show what you are describing. They should have a better idea of what to expect. And it may alert them to a problem they simply aren't aware of. But 3 months as the "lifespan" of a diaper seems rediculously short to me. Sounds like they need some improvements in design or materials used or something.

From personal experience, I would say 3 months is a bit too short of a lifespan to me...
What I would do, is snap a couple pictures of the diapers falling apart, and ask them if this is infact normal..
