Re: childbirth classes?
I didn't take them with my first... I almost wish I had just so I had known a little more of what to expect and how to push... But really the nurses were great and helped me a long!

Re: childbirth classes?
By all means, what I did isn't appropriate for everyone...
my midwife encouraged classes too, but DH and I never got around to it. I did read everything I could, and watched some videos (there is a crazy one on Netflix from the 80's with a 2003 copyright--that was interesting!). I did attend a hospital class, but that was more of an orientation than a childbirth class. I knew I wanted an epidural, and that the baby would come out one way or another. We lived 6 minutes from the hospital. The nurses told me when to push. DS came out. I concentrated more on when do I go to the hospital, and what to do with the baby AFTER he came out.

Re: childbirth classes?
i figure everything will be okay because, well, that's what women are supposed to do. right?
my ob-gyn is encouraging a doula, prenatal yoga (which i'm doing anyway), support groups, lamaze classes, and even hypnotherapy (?) he's a bit crunchy. this is baby #1, and i am hoping for a normal vaginal birth (in hospital), hopefully no episiotomy, although i am not opposed to pain meds. |

Re: childbirth classes?
I took a class with my first but see no reason to with this one. The basics they taught us (though everyone is different) is to find a good way to communicate with your partner about what feels good and what doesn't. And make sure you breathe.

Re: childbirth classes?
i think taking a childbirth class is a good idea. I took one with my first but it still didnt completely prepare me for ds1 birth. I would def. suggest a doula. I had one with my daughters birth and she was great. Im a pretty self sufficient person so she didnt have to do alot but it was nice to have her there. idk as far as hypno but i have heard it works wonders.
